Julian PhilipsEvent MC J Prior to joining FNC, Phillips served as an on-air correspondent for WPIX-TV (WB Network, currently CW) "News at Ten" in New York, and hosted their weekly community and public affairs program, "Best Talk." As host, Phillips interviewed numerous local and state politicians, as well as other officials, eventually winning the New York State Broadcasters Award for his stellar work on the program. While at WPIX, Phillips also co-hosted several live broadcasts including Macy's annual national telecast of the July 4th fireworks as well as the Puerto Rican Day Parade with pop music star Lisa Lisa. He also co-hosted the Hispanic Parade with film and tv actress Elizabeth Pena. Prior to WPIX-TV, Phillips served as a reporter covering breaking news, as well as manager of community relations for WNBC-TV (NBC) in New York. Phillips began his career as a desk assistant for ABC Radio Network News. He is a two-time Emmy Award winner and eight-time nominee. He is also the recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in journalism, and a sought after motivational speaker. Some highlights include keynoting the Big Ten Diversity Conference and the Indiana Black Expo Youth Conference. Phillips even received the key to the city of Macon Georgia during their annual Cherry Blossom Festival. Julian’s past and present Board affiliations include: Purdue University's College of Liberal Arts Advisory Board; Purdue University Discovery Park External Advisory Board, and the New York Council on Adoptable Children. Phillips is a married to jazz vocalist, Barbara King, and they live on Long Island. |
